The National Youth Entrepreneurship Camp 2006 (NYEC) is a joint collaboration between NUS BINGO and Nanyang Junior College. Its purpose is to inspire young students about entrepreneurship and business. Over 200 students from 20 secondary schools and 8 junior colleges participated in this camp. The NYEC is a 4-day camp stay out camp at Nanyang Junior College and it holds a 1 day pre-camp seminar in NUS Faculty of Engineering. During the camp, the student learn about entrepreneurship and business through leadership and business games, take part in a stimulated CEO game and a business proposal plan. Four local established companies took part in our business proposal plan and either their founders or top management people came down to present their companies and judge the students’ proposals. These four companies are Milcom Aerospace Pte Ltd (aerospace engineering and training), DMAX Pte Ltd (IT and VoIP), Houseproud Pte Ltd (retails, gifts) and Singapore Inline Skating (sports).

Lectures and seminars by successful entrepreneurs and university professors were conducted for the students to prepare them for the business proposal competition. The students were also organized into teams and learnt to cooperate and work as a team. Young entrepreneurs from the NUS Technopreneurship Incubation Centre were also engaged to assist the students in their business proposal. The students learnt about business and entrepreneurship from real entrepreneurs.
